Homeward Bound “a true story”
A little over two months ago my neighbor Elaine who likes to feed the homeless animal’s, mainly cats mentioned to us that someone was not only eating all of the cat food that she normally puts out in her front yard but also taking away the bowls! We all came to the conclusion that it was probably a loose dog that has been wandering around the area recently. My wife Yvonne then noticed that dog at our back fence once it was feeding time for our dogs, so she decided to start going around our house to see if she could start feeding him also. As she called out for him he would come running around to the front of the house with hesitation. He would wait for the food tray to be placed on the ground and he cautiously would start eating. She tried to get closer to him and he would retreat, he had a collar with tags and we hoped it had the owners phone number. Tried to get close enough to read them but to no avail, this routine continued for weeks. Two weeks ago we formally met our neighbor Angela from the end of our cul-de-sac and the subject of this lost dog came up and as it turns out , Angela had been feeding him breakfast every morning before she headed off to work. Our homes back up to an area of beautiful woods and trees and that is where “Rudy” alias, would go back to after his meals and running around this was his home and shelter. We would worry about him on those super cold nights but thanks to caring neighbors he did not lack food or water. On Tuesday, Christmas Eve as Yvonne was handing out her homemade Christmas Cheesecakes to our neighbors we came across Angela’s neighbor Ernest and his family. He too was familiar with Rudy and said whenever he was griiling steaks he would share with Rudy! Wow did we feel cheap. Moments later Rudy came out to play, Yvonne would lay on the ground to make Rudy feel more comfortable and as I watched Yvonne get a hold of him and was able to release his collar and YES there was a phone number. As Rudy ran back to the woods Yvonne made the phone call and left a message. A man called back after about an hour and said he would call back when he was done with his deliveries as he was working for UPS. Later around 6:15 that evening “Jeremy”s wife called and asked for our address as they were both on the way to pick up Rudy! Yea, when they arrived Rudy was no where to be found so “our adopted son” who thinks he’s a UPS driver with all the miles he racks up, went into the woods to attempt to flush out Rudy and lo and behold Rudy came out. I think all the animals RUN for their life when they hear or see him. When the owners called out to Huckleberry aka as Rudy he was still in a resistance mode.” Come to mama Huckleberry” and the dog would sit and listen, get up nervously , sit and stare. After 20 minutes Yvonne ran to the front yard and the dog pursued her it took another 10 minutes to get close to him so we bribed him with ham and Carrie’s fresh chili…… What happened next would have been a winner for America’s funniest video’s as Yvonne was on the ground wrestling Huckleberry as she tried to capture Rudy, along with our son and the dogs owner. SUCCESS came when Josue wrapped his arms around him and carried Huckleberry to the car. Once in, the dog gave a big lick to his owner on the cheek…… Huckleberry was rescued again, he knew he was HOME.…
After a brief conversation we found out Jeremy’s wife had tripped over Huckleberry on the stairs and broke both her legs 6 months ago. With mounting medical bills and unable to care for him they gave Huckleberry to Jeremy’s best friend who lives about 4 blocks from here. It broke her heart to give him up . They checked up on the dog and no response from the friend until last month they finally asked if he still had Huckleberry he said “ well yes and no “ and that was that.
Jeremy and his wife had rescued Huckleberry as an abandoned puppy.
That evening Jeremy’s wife sent Yvonne some photo’s. On Christmas eve after 6 months of being lost, Huckleberry is home safe and sound .

This year’s ceremonies set for October 19, 2013 at the Lila Cockrell Theatre
San Antonio, TX (10-11-2013) Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA), producers of the 33rd Annual Tejano Music Awards Show, has named the top contenders for awards in 13 categories at this year’s ceremonies, set for Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the historic Lila Cockrell Theatre.
Nominees include fan favorites Jay Perez, Shelly Lares, Michael Salgado, Ruben Ramos, AJ Castillo, David Lee Garza y Los Musicales, David Marez, Solido, Ricardo Castillon, Linda Escobar, Los Hermanos Farias, Los Garcias Brother, Texmaniacs, Grupo Siggno and Elida Reyna. While Reyna, named in five categories, leads with the most nominations, vocalist/accordionist Jesse Turner of Grupo Siggno, comes close with recognition in four categories; two with Grupo Siggno and two for his individual efforts. Two new categories added to the awards slate is best album Norteno and Gospel showcasing the diversity of subgenres of Tejano music.
Special Lifetime Achievement Award honorees include Paulino Bernal and Carlos Guzman. Considered musical trendsetters of the 20th Century, both gentlemen played a major role within the Conjunto and Tejano humble beginnings and success.

Billy Graham is now 92+ years-old with Parkinson’s disease. [ 
In January, leaders in Charlotte , North Carolina ,invited their favorite son, Billy Graham, to a luncheon in his honor. Billy initially hesitated to accept the invitation because he struggles with Parkinson’s disease. But the Charlotte leaders said, ‘We don’t expect a major address. Just come and let us honor you.’ So he agreed. After wonderful things were said about him, Dr. Graham stepped to the rostrum, looked at the crowd, and said, “I’m reminded today of Albert Einstein, the great physicist who this month has been honored by Time magazine as the Man of the Century. Einstein was once traveling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger. When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket. He couldn’t find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser pockets. It wasn’t there.He looked in his briefcase but couldn’t find it. Then he looked in the seat beside him. He still couldn’t find it. “The conductor said, ‘Dr. Einstein, I know who you are. We all know who you are. I’m sure you bought a ticket. Don’t worry about it.’ “Einstein nodded appreciatively. The conductor continued down the aisle punching tickets. 7/31/2012 – DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas — More than 400 Airmen returned from Southwest Asia July 25 and 26 to Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, after being deployed six months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
The deployment marked the largest B-1 Bomber deployment of aircraft and personnel in the last 10 years.
Families and friends waited holding signs and banners, while others waived and screamed as Airmen deboarded the aircraft.
“I’m very proud of my husband,” said Allison Gutierrez “San Antonio”the spouse of a deployed Airman. “He’s such a non-selfish person who fights for his country and does what he believes is right.”
Her husband, Senior Airman Demetrio Gutierrez,”San Antonio” 7th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, worked on the deployed B-1 Bombers.
“It’s a great and amazing feeling to be back with my family and friends,” Gutierrez said. “I was deployed with a great group of guys who went out and grabbed the bull by the horns and accomplished the mission.”
The Airmen of the 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron and 9th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit provided more than 25 percent of the total fixed-wing close-air support coverage for coalition ground forces in Afghanistan every day by launching the most B-1 sorties executed on a single deployment in more than 10 years of sustained conflict.
Over the course of the six-plus month deployment, the squadron flew more than 770 combat sorties, encompassing over 9,500 hours, to provide 24 hours of coverage every day.
They also responded to more than 500 troops-in-contact situations, with the enemy as close as 300 meters from friendly forces, and another 700 priority air requests, delivering more than 400 weapons on target.
“We were able to achieve these great stats through pure hard work,” said Lt. Col. Matthew Brooks, 9th Bomb Squadron commander. “Our squadron flew 130 more sorties than any B-1 squadron had flown in any other six month deployment. You don’t accomplish this by luck. It’s pure hard work and dedication from the aircraft maintainers, weapon builders and load crews, B-1 aviators, and the rest of the 7th Bomb Wing who deployed with us.”
The 9th EBS and 9th EAMU completed a complex B-1 sustainment block upgrade in the midst of combat operations, while avoiding any degradation in support to ongoing missions. The upgrade, completed to all nine aircraft in only six days, fulfilled an Air Forces Central Urgent Operational Needs request to fully integrate the sniper targeting pod onto the B-1, thereby providing machine-to-machine interface between the targeting pod and weapons, and reducing the targeting timeline by 33 percent.
The modification also ensured full operational capability for the B-1 to employ the GBU-54 Laser Joint Direct Attack Munition, providing Combined Forces Air Component Commander with the first-ever B-1 capability to engage and destroy moving targets.
“There wasn’t a single moment during our deployment that we did not have a B-1 in the air over Afghanistan,” Brooks said. “It’s really hard to put it in words how proud I am of these Airmen. Despite extremely difficult conditions both on the flightline and in the air, they gave everything they had to support the mission. I’m honored to have served with them.”
The 400 plus Airmen will receive two weeks of well deserved rest and recuperation before assuming their duties again here

96 Year-Old Latino Former Arizona Governor Detained By Border Patrol In 100 Degree Heat

This man is Raúl Héctor Castro. He is 96 years old, a former Arizona governor, and a former United States Ambassador to El Salvador, Bolivia and Argentina. He was born in Mexico, and is a United States citizen.
Last month he was stopped by U.S. border patrol agents after residual radiation from a medical procedure he’d recently undergone triggered an alarm at a checkpoint in Tubac, AZ. The 96 year-old heart patient was then forced to exit his vehicle in the 100 degree Arizona heat and wait in a tent in a business suit, even as his companion begged the agents not to subject an elderly man to such treatment.
This is the third time the former governor and ambassador has been detained by border control. The first occurred years ago while he was repairing his own fence and agents stopped him and asked to see his work card — although they eventually desisted after Castro pointed out a sign by his farm entrance that read “Judge Castro.” The second occurred years later in San Diego, although that encounter ended shortly after someone recognized Castro and said “Governor, how are you?

Now I know we will forever be un-fortunately living with a few Bad politicians that dictate their personal views into the law including those in our Supreme Court
However some of you in law enforcement need to go back to school and get a formal education! I have myself been in meetings where these big fat politicians are trying to come up with rules and regulations, and when someone like me jumps in with “Are You Crazy” They simply say “Well at least we are not the one’s on the street having to enforce our crazy ideas!

J.R. Martinez & Karina win Dancing with the Stars
Congrats go out to J.R. Martinez and Karina , just when we all thought the fix was in after the results showed Rikki Lake came in third ” I thought I was gonna die” However , the best finally won. Then after getting ready to write something about his victory I could not find anything on the net or on the news! Had that other (2nd place person had won, I feel the media would be shoving it down our throats for a week. So I write this in honor of J.R. and his military service and for all in our military. And for those of you who are not to familiar with J.R. here is a little bio on him I found on Dancing with the stars website from ABC. His real name is Jose Rene..DOB June 14,1984.What is not included below is that he is not married. Has a girlfriend “Diana Jones” who is an executive assistant for ABCs hit sop opera “All My Children” He was in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in Kentucky when he was deployed to Iraq in 2003. He is originally from Shreveport, LA via El Salvador where his mothers family is from. I salute you J.R. for giving all of us with a handicapp, the inspiration and motivation to keep pushing forward in life and work. You are an example of making all the hard work and re-hab well worth it………………

In April 2003, at 19 years old, he was serving as a Humvee driver for the U.S. Army in Iraq when his left front tire hit a landmine.
