You can earn your High School Diploma in accordance with the State of Texas home school requirement laws.

In accordance with the state of Texas no home school graduate can be discriminated against and therefore is eligible to enroll in any community college and major university's .

In addition all home school graduates qualify for student grants and federal monies upon entering college. Also home school graduates are accepted in the U.S. Military armed forces.

Don't be mislead by the term "Accredited" Public school are accredited by the state of Texas which means only that you can transfer your public school credits from one school district to another, plus since public schools are funded by the state, the state makes all rules and laws governing all public schools and students like having to take and pass the state mandated Taks Test before receiving a diploma. Also imposing truancy laws that have sent student's and parents to jail, simply cause they could not afford to pay the fines as in Hidalgo county in south Texas. These two rules do not apply for Home Schools. As home schools are considered private schools and are not funded by the state of Texas, but rather paid for by the students themselves.

We recommend all youths to complete their education if possible in their normal mainstream environment, However if your circumstances have led you here, I can help you earn and obtain your High School Diploma.

Texas Home Schooling Laws

Here's what I have on the current laws in Texas.

Legal Requirements for home schooling in Texas

(This is not intended to be legal advice and is distributed for information purposes only, for the exact wording and interpretation of the law please look at the Texas Education Code (sections 21.032 & 21.033) or consult a lawyer.)

Compulsory Attendance ages are 6 through 17. This means that when a child turns 6 he must be "in school" and, if not enrolled in a traditional school, the following requirements apply:
1. The home school must be run in a bona fide manner (not a sham or subterfuge.)
2. A written curriculum (from any source including video or computer) must be used and must cover the basic subjects of reading, spelling, grammar, math and a course in good citizenship. The child is considered to be in a private school.
3. Parents must reasonably cooperate with any reasonable inquiry from an attendance officer.
The Texas legislature has not defined private or parochial school in the Education Code . Additionally, the legislature has given the TEA and State Board of Education authority just over Public schools, not over private or parochial schools. Under the compulsory attendance laws, there is a requirement of 170 days of attendance but this only applies to PUBLIC schools, not to private schools.
There are no current testing requirements nor are you required to register your home school with the school district under current Texas law.
