Alamo City Comic Con 2013
The inaugural Alamo City Comic Con which ran from October 25th – 27th at the Henry B. Gonzales convention center was a big success. This event provided great family entertainment, and gave convention goers an opportunity to dress up as there favorite superhero/villain or favorite TV/film character. This was also a great place for the fan boy to go get that hard to find comic book or collectible. Artwork was being sold there at very affordable prices, from comic book legends to local artists all were represented there. Most people who attended wanted to meet a special guest celebrity to take a photo with them or get an autograph. When I attended this event I wanted to see and do all of these things.

The inaugural Alamo City Comic Con has come and went; it was set up as a premier comic book convention. The four things people look forward to in a typical convention are comic book collectibles, artwork, dressing up in costume, and meeting celebrities. The Alamo City Comic Con did not disappoint in any of those aforementioned items.
BACKSTAGE WITH THE ZOMBIES

Beware! Zombies seem to be everywhere. You see them in the movies, commercials, video games, Halloween costumes and even reportedly at the Alamo! Do I have your attention now? Well then, let me explain. I recently returned from another one of my great Rock-n-Roll adventures with the British invasion of the 1960’s, THE ZOMBIES, one of the most underrated rock bands of that era.

At Sam’s Burger joint I caught the sultry Patricia Vonne, her voice was clear and crisp that did not disappoint but impressed.
To label her style of music would be an injustice, but I will give it try. It was a little bit of rock and a flavor of Flamenco .
Her first tune had the heavy over tones of a Robert Rodriguez film and why not, it’s her brother. It’s apparent that talent does not fall far from the tree.

Rain ,Rain stay away and it did. For the folks who braved the cool night they were treated to an amazing evening loaded with the sight, sound and the aroma of food lingering in the air. Walking the park grounds I came to a opinion wishing there were two of me so I can see and enjoy twice as much. There were 6 stages and over 600 artist.

RAIN OR SHINE: SAN ANTONIO PRESENTS 6TH ANNUAL LUMINARIA
SAN ANTONIO (March 8, 2013) – The Sixth Annual Luminaria will take place Saturday, March 9, 2013 in HemisFair Park and downtown San Antonio from 7 p.m. to midnight. Luminaria will take place, rain or shine. However, in the event of rain, music and art installations will be moved inside the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and the indoor venues in HemisFair Park will also be open.
“We are confident that, rain or shine, San Antonio’s Sixth Annual Luminaria will be a night to remember,” says Richard Rosen, Artistic Director of Luminaria.

Enjoy a Romantic Evening of Music with El Bolero II
El Bolero II is a musical program that promises to seduce its listeners with an array of romantic ballads.
And as Patricia Pérez-Lemppaf, the show’s artistic director says, “However, remember that falling in love and being in love can sometimes end in heartache. So be prepared for this music to capture your soul and the lyrics transcend you and make you reminisce about a past or present love.
“So whether you’re in love, have fallen out of love or you’re in the process of conquering a sweetheart, the bolero will enlighten your heart and soul with visions of passionate love.”
Hollywood Comes to the Alamo City
The Greater San Antonio Film Council is on a mission and that’s to bring Hollywood’s big bucks to the Alamo City.
In 1927, a silent movie about World War I was filmed in San Antonio and it went on to become the first film to win the Academy Award for “Best Picture.” Furthermore, “Wings,” also won a second Academy Award for “Engineering Effects.”
Since then, numerous other movies have been produced in the River City, but not as many as Austin. The state’s Capitol City boosts a total of four film organizations and this accounts why Austin gets so many of Tinseltown’s productions.
San Antonio is Going Hollywood
“Lights! Camera! Action!
Those three little words spell money for the Alamo City’s economic and they spell magic for local movie goers who will enjoy seeing their city as the background for two films that will be shot in San Antonio in July.
These two new film productions are “Los Tres Pérez” and “Taking it.”
The first is a remake of “Los Tres García,” a Mexican musical starring Pedro Infante, Jorge Abel Salazar, Víctor Manuel Mendoza and Marga López.
López is the U.S. born blonde cutie that goes to Mexico and because of her beauty is wooed by the three García brothers whose screen grandmother is played by Sara García.
