The
School-to-Prison Pipeline: Why You Should Care
By now you may have
heard about the class-action lawsuit brought
by
the ACLU of Texas against Hidalgo County
(coverage from The Monitor in McAllen)
for its unconstitutional practice of jailing
teens who are unable to pay truancy fines.
Watch
Gouri Bhat, the lead attorney in the case
against Hidalgo, discuss why the ACLU of Texas
has taken a special interest in truancy as
part of the ACLU of Texas'
Focus on Learning in Texas Classrooms
campaign against the school-to-prison
pipeline.
Personally, I was
charged as a parent for KNOWINGLY CONTRIBUTING
TO MY CHILD'S DELINQUENCY 6 yrs ago. The
District Attorney told me that I am also to be
charged cause that was what THE law stated and
called for! I told him that I will see him in
court and he can have fun trying to explain to
the jury their consequences should their
children decide to skip school without their
knowledge. All charges against me were dropped
. But when my son faced the judge he imposed
community service & counseling (how I met
Pastor Crain from the Restoration Center for
counseling services), and the judge then
stated "Im sorry bout all this #%@&* its just
all about making more money for the school
districts. After further research on my part
(can't help myself) The N.I.S.D here in San
Antonio has a staff with a administrator
handling the truancy problem and is funded in
part by a large portion from fines collected
by the courts imposed on parents & students.
Therefore; it is my professional opinion that
this school district department & staff
contribute to this injustice just to keep
their newly formed department & staff in
business! I am appalled that some of these
parents & children are in jail simply cause
they cannot afford the fines imposed on them,
while these so called professional educators
are enjoying their highly paid lifestyle. I
just don't know how they can sleep at night.
Thank God for the ACLU for taking up this
issue.. Remember, "Freedom Can't Protect
Itself"................
............................................................................................................
On another very important issue that may come
to light with the ACLU. I just exhausted
myself reading all the brief's n opinions in
the Right to have religious services vs. the
City of Leon Valley Tx, coming soon to a
federal court near you. I just can't believe
all these highly paid court juris that can't
interpet the 1st & 14th Amendments of the
Constitution.....
I'm So
Mad
even though I have
to keep my blood pressure in check, should I
ever have a heart attack at least it will be
due to working on the right thing and not the
popular.

Exactly one year ago on August 15th is my
anniversary date of suffering a stroke and as
I still sit in this wheelchair but feeling
much better. I am also wondering with all this
racism and inmigration problems and now this
truancy problems in Hidalgo and the right to
have church services in Leon Valley, is the
world around me falling apart?
Maybe it's a good thing that I just can't
Runaway to Tuscany and leave these troubles
behind. Just maybe God has a plan for me to
stay and help win a few more battles. |

. Check this out, I'm not kidding
OUCH!
While the rest of the country including us here in
San Antonio are in the process of passing laws
that prohibit "texting" while driving, but here in
Texas (Austin,TX) we have special rules in place
that
do
allow
certain people to continue that very same practice
and allows them to get away with commiting a crime
while doing so! This
video
PROVES that Policemen can be just as distracted
and stupid as the rest of the motorist that
do texting while driving. Does this stupid rule
also apply if Policemen run over and kill someone
while they are in the process of "entering their
mobile data" as they call it? Here is my opinion
to all this %#x@ BS rules that help and protect
most civil servants and I know many of you. From
the very start of your civil service job you
stand in a welfare type of line just to apply for
that job, and sometimes line up the night before.
You get a starting salary based on collective
barganing from the labor union in place and Not
based on any education level you have or
expertise. After a few months on the job along
with the biggest paychecks you ever received OR
will ever. You aquire a false sense of
intelligence. "Ever heard the term Going Postal"
This term plays in a factor that whatever you are
doing in life did not require any dicipline
to attain.
(EDUCATION)
Oh
and while I'm on the subject , here in San Antonio
a few years ago , our SAPD union boss was brought
up on criminal charges. In lew of going to trial
and losing his pension, He accepted a PLEA deal
from our DA and retired in order to protect and
receive his pension. Just guess WHO is paying for
that criminal's pension.

I am so mad about so many issues that it is just
to much to for me to separate into several
articles. From Our own Texas DPS to our city that
one of our Finest be only issued a misdemeanor
violation ( a ticket ) for being involved in an
accident that caused the death of
someone.......All that Oil in the Gulf that was
allowed to reach our shoreline. While our special
subcommittees in D.C. found it more important to
have hearings just to play the BLAME game.
Remember the wildlife there anyone? This is not
just the Gulf's Wetlands, it is America's
Wetlands.. I am also very disappointed at the
local turnout for protesting the Immigrating law
in Arizona. When I heard the other night that we
could only produce under 300 in attendance, I was
#%* off. After learning that from Austin, Houston,
Dallas, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles had
anywhere from Thousands to hundreds of thousands
in support of the protest. I don't even know how
to put into words except that I was selling raspas
at Conception Park when I was 12 yrs old and had I
remained content making what I thought then was
alot of $$ I probably would still be doing that
very same. For those of you who would rather
remain silent "A MAN WHO GIVES UP HIS ARMS AND
LIBERTIES FOR PEACE AND SECURITY, WILL SOON HAVE
NEITHER"....Thomas Jefferson..

I can't believe what the local news reported
today (2-26-10). A San Antonio Police officer was
arrested for sexual assault while on duty. To make
matters worse is that he was placed on
administrative PAID leave pending the
investigation. So for the moment he is being
rewarded a free paid vacation (paid for by us the
taxpayer). Due to our weak local political leaders
who won't do anything about the absurd union
contract with the Police department, this (PAID
LEAVE) CLAUSE in the contract is simply another
assault on us the taxpayer. This is the very same
type of injustice that makes people (taxpayers)
fly their planes into Government buildings as in
the tragedy in Austin,Tx last week.

I can't believe I saw a SAFD
truck stuck in a low water crossing a few weeks
ago on the local news. I am wondering who the
city
is going to charge now? Normally , they have a fee
imposed on us normal people like $ #%*. However,
the people who usually SAVE us are the ONE's
NEEDING TO BE RESCUED.!... iS the
city
going to impose that same fee on the driver of the
Fire Truck (NOT) Or use an excuse that it was part
of his duty with the
city?
I remember a few years back watching the local
news, The SAFD was trying to rescue a man when the
rescuer a SAFD person slipped and went with the
rushing water and later when he was walking back
not realizing the TV news camera was on him caught
him mumbling "I can't believe how stupid some of
these people are." Well , all I have to say now
is, Who's stupid now? "Life is like a box of
chocolates you never know what your gonna get."

Im Mad
I can't believe I had a stroke; as much as I am
blessed, saved....etc, etc., where was God when I
needed him? He immediately sent me an angel Ms.
Cano who recognized my condition, she sent for
help and help is what I received. Had a brief but
very compassionate visit at Christus hospital in
Beeville, then transported to Corpus Christi by an
ambulance from hell....seems like the shock
absorbers were made for a 800lb euro car!! We
arrived at Christus Spohn hospital on Shoreline
Drive and as I was being taken out of the
ambulance I caught a view of the Gulf and felt the
ocean breeze And Just Like That GOD SHOWED UP!! I
am receiving first rate treatment from
compassionate professional staff here at Christus
Spohn and did I mention the view of the Gulf from
my room.......I know, poor me. Oh, I will never
have an MRI again-felt like a Hannibal Lecter mask
was placed on my face, slid into a tube and heard
loud noises on each side of my head that reminded
me of the music they play for JAWS. I was told
not to move it will only take a minute and a half,
then the voice said 45 seconds, 20
seconds......felt like a countdown to WHAT? Where
is the #*!!! eject button?!?
I would like to personally praise the nurses,
PT's, OT's and speech therapists that have
encouraged me. I would like to mention one of my
physical therapist named Armia, he reminds me of
Ramses (Moses) and guess where he is from? EGYPT
Personal note to my church family........I'll be
Back!!!!! To my families and friends- Thank you
for your prayers and blessings. I love you!
Having God in my life has made me a better man and
have realized how our lord always has our
backs.... I agree with the statement "life is
like a box of chocolates you'll never know what
you're going to get."
